I’m very pleased to announce that Dave Ware has accepted the position of General Sales Manager of KAZT-TV. Dave will be based in the Phoenix office and will be in Tuesday 5/29 at 11 am to begin his tenure with us.

Dave comes to us with a broad background of 32 years in the television industry:
* AE in Sacramento with the CBS affiliate
* Sales Manager with the CBS affiliate in Orlando
* GSM in Orlando (WB) and Indianapolis (Paramount)
* Manager of the LA office of Seltel Rep Firm

Dave and his family arrived in Phoenix in 2010. He comes to us from Apex Media in Scottsdale where he was Director of Sales. Dave is a Telecommunications graduate of San Diego State University. Please join me in welcoming Dave Ware to the AZTV family next week!

It has just been announed that effective June 4th, Janet Callaghan who has been on the FM radio sales staff for many years is joining the sales staff of Clear Channel Outdoor.

Janet is returning to her roots as she was on the sales staff of Eller Outdoor for years.

Janet will be moving downstairs in the same building so it won’t be much of a move.

Please congratulate Janet on her career shift.

Freddie Colon is moving from his 6pm-10pm shift at 94.5 KOOL FM> Freddie and his wife are moving back to NYC to be with family. Until further notice Scoot Drake will be stepping into the 6pm-10pm slot.

DAVE SHAKES NAMED PROGRAM DIRECTOR FOR CBS RADIO PHOENIX’S TOP 40 STATION, KZON AND LEADING CLASSIC HITS STATION, KOOL

May 22, 2012 – Dave Shakes has been named Program Director of CBS RADIO’s Top 40 Station, KZON-FM (101.5 JAMZ) and KOOL-FM (94.5 Classic Hits) in Phoenix, it was announced today by Tim Pohlman, Senior Vice President/Market Manager for CBS RADIO Phoenix. The appointment is effective Monday, June 18.

Shakes returns to CBS RADIO, having previously served as Program Director for WBBM-FM (B96) in Chicago from 1990-1993. During his tenure, Shakes led WBBM to a ratings turn-around and also received the NAB Marconi Award and was named Billboard’s Program Director of the Year.

“I am very excited about Dave coming back to CBS RADIO and couldn’t be more thrilled to know that he will be applying his knowledge and experience to the great brands of KZON-FM and KOOL-FM,” said Pohlman.

Added Shakes, “It is quite the opportunity to work with the great teams at KZON-FM and KOOL-FM and to rejoin my many friends at CBS RADIO. I look forward to maintaining the integrity and success of these two stations while bringing my own personal flair to the Phoenix market.”

Prior to rejoining CBS RADIO, Shakes held various programming and operations positions including Chief Programming Officer for Results Radio LLC in Santa Rosa, Operations Manager for KMEL and K101 in San Francisco and National Programming and Marketing Consultant for Alan Burns & Associates in Washington, DC. He was graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

The broadcast veteran of more than 40 years takes the reigns of Phoenix / Prescott’s only locally-owned television station

Phoenix, AZ – May 17, 2012 – KAZT (AZ-TV Channel 7, Cable 13) owner Lynn Londen has announced that Rich Howe has been elevated to General Manager of AZ-TV and Executive Vice President of Londen Media Group, LLC effective immediately.

His television experience dates back to 1980 at KCRA-TV in Sacramento before moving in 1983 to KUSK-TV in Northern Arizona. After the station was purchased by Londen Media Group in 2002, Howe transitioned to the National Sales Manager / Prescott Station Manager role at KAZT-TV under late-GM Ron Bergamo. Rich becomes the third General Manager in AZ-TV’s tenure, succeeding Jeff Burnton, who left the company in April 2012.

Clear Channel moves Glynn Alan to run three markets – Las Vegas, Tucson and El Paso. Glynn should be accustomed to the multi-market routine, because he’s been cycling between Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Fort Collins for the last 14 months. Now he’s relocating to Las Vegas to take the title of Regional Market Manager for Vegas, Tucson and El Paso, supported by newly-named Regional Programming Manager Chris Pickett. Pickett’s based in Las Vegas. There’s a third promotion – Chris Kelly is the new ops manager for Tucson.
