DAVE SHAKES NAMED PROGRAM DIRECTOR FOR CBS RADIO PHOENIX’S TOP 40 STATION, KZON AND LEADING CLASSIC HITS STATION, KOOL
May 22, 2012 – Dave Shakes has been named Program Director of CBS RADIO’s Top 40 Station, KZON-FM (101.5 JAMZ) and KOOL-FM (94.5 Classic Hits) in Phoenix, it was announced today by Tim Pohlman, Senior Vice President/Market Manager for CBS RADIO Phoenix. The appointment is effective Monday, June 18.
Shakes returns to CBS RADIO, having previously served as Program Director for WBBM-FM (B96) in Chicago from 1990-1993. During his tenure, Shakes led WBBM to a ratings turn-around and also received the NAB Marconi Award and was named Billboard’s Program Director of the Year.
“I am very excited about Dave coming back to CBS RADIO and couldn’t be more thrilled to know that he will be applying his knowledge and experience to the great brands of KZON-FM and KOOL-FM,” said Pohlman.
Added Shakes, “It is quite the opportunity to work with the great teams at KZON-FM and KOOL-FM and to rejoin my many friends at CBS RADIO. I look forward to maintaining the integrity and success of these two stations while bringing my own personal flair to the Phoenix market.”
Prior to rejoining CBS RADIO, Shakes held various programming and operations positions including Chief Programming Officer for Results Radio LLC in Santa Rosa, Operations Manager for KMEL and K101 in San Francisco and National Programming and Marketing Consultant for Alan Burns & Associates in Washington, DC. He was graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
