New Radio Show on AZ Centennial

Tune in to 960-AM KKNT 3pm, Sunday, January 8th, 2012 for the new Arizona “Centennial Stories” radio show hosted by Keith Woods.

This show is scheduled for 13 weeks around the state of Arizona’s centennial. This Sunday will be the pilot where they will be talking about the great John Ford classic films that were made in Monument Valley, Arizona. Film and TV historian, Stuart Rosebrook, Ph.D., is the guest.

For you John Wayne movie buff’s you might know of him from the recent DVD release of John Wayne’s “True Grit.” Rosebrook was the film historian, and provided commentary in the DVD’s special features.

Today, Rosebrook is an acclaimed editor, writer, and historian relating to media and the American West. He has been a featured writer for Arizona Highways magazine, True West magazine, and is a contributor to the Arizona Highways Centennial Edition hitting news stands in the next few weeks.

Radio Stations Partner with Messinger to Benefit “Cell Phones for Soldiers”

Messinger Mortuaries, Paradise Memorial Gardens, and their media partners KOY-AM, KSLX-FM, KFYI-AM, KKNT-AM, and KTAR-FM are doing a cell phone recycling drive to benefit the non-profit,  “Cell Phones for Soldiers.”

People who would like to donate old cell phones may drop them off during normal business hours at any Messinger Mortuary location, Paradise Memorial Gardens, Arcadia Tavern, LifeBrokers, participating radio station location, and designated radio station events. They will start collecting phones on Monday, October 31st, and continue through Veterans Day, Friday, November  11th.

Cell Phones for Soldiers uses proceeds raised from cell phone donations to buy and distribute calling cards for U.S. troops stationed overseas, so that they can afford to call home.

A whole lotta changin’ goin’ on in radio.

CBS radio has announced their new GSM for KOOL and KMLE is Dave Brown. Most of you know Dave from either FOX Sports where he was the sales manger and previously before that position he was in management at KTAR. Dave has been the radio biz for a long time and he will be a welcomed addition to the CBS family

Lisa Allen who has been @ KKNT for the past 14 months is departing and returning to the Clear Channel family as a AE at KFYI.

Amy Ann Rosales has stepped down from her position as GSM at The Peak to accept a AE position at sister station KTAR FM.
